There have been many important animals in the artist's life, one of them being Yakky, her horse, which she was unfortunately forced to sell in 2007.

Yakky and Irene were together for about 5 very difficult years, the years when Irene (then a teenager) was constantly abused by man close to her.

This work was born in December 2020, when the artist set out on the trail of her beloved former horse, sold in 2007, with the intention of buying him back and letting him spend the last years of his life free with her. After a very long search, made up of many moments of hope and subsequent disappointments, the horse's trail disappeared after it was sold in 2017 in Germany.

It would have been very nice to be reunited with Yakky and thus save a positive part of that terrible story, but having to accept that this would never happen the artist decided to make this portrait, to talk about his horse, because he will never be forgotten and never will the injustice he and Irene suffered be forgotten.
